Time To Start working on the Christmas Cards for 2015

It's a New Year - so a good time to get started on the Christmas Cards for this year and avoid the last minute panic.  And to help you we have a monthly challenge at CHNC Extra.  The challenge for January is now live.

Here is a card I created for inspiration:

I used Fancy Sunbonnet - Christmas tree from Bugaboo Stamps.

Head on over to CHNC Extra for January to see some more inspirational cards!

January is also a special month for Bugaboo Stamps as it celebrates it's 5th Birthday.  There will be a week long celebration from January 17th through January 23rd.

As well as the digi image from Bugaboo Stamps I have used some striped Christmas paper from DCWV.  I added some red and white lace.  Colouring of the image is with copic markers with the addition of Stickles - Gold.  I also added some faux stitching with a Distress Marker.  As a finishing touch, I added three glitter domes to the lower left.

I would like to enter my card into these challenges:

A Song In Your Heart - Thank You For The Music
http://asonginyourart.blogspot.ca/2014/12/a-song-in-your-heart-challenge-23-and.html

I have used a musical themed DP from Kaisercraft.  I cut a piano keyboard from glitter cardstock by American Crafts using a Memory Box die.  The image is from Lacy Sunshine Stamps and has been coloured with copic markers.  I added Stickles - Star Dust to the image and dots in Kindy Glitz - Gold.  The matting is the same glitter cardstock as the piano keyboard.  I added a sentiment from Desert Diva and raised it up above the card.

Snowy Christmas

I had an idea for a white on white card and wanted to see if what was in my head would work on paper!  A bit late for Christmas - so this one is for Christmas this year!

I would like to enter my card into these challenges:
The Outlawz Thursday Challenge - Anything Goes

CHNC - Anything Christmas
http://craftyhazelnutschristmaschallenge.blogspot.co.uk/2014/12/chnc-challenge-209-anything-goes-as.html

I have used a white based DP from a Christmas paper pad.  I embossed a left over piece of white card using an embossing folder called "Tuscan Tiles" which always makes me think of snowflakes!  The image is from Sami Stamps and has been "coloured" with a combination of Stickles and Liquid Pearls.  I matted with some white glitter cardstock from American Crafts and also used the same glitter cardstock to die-cut a snowflake.  The die for the snowflake is from Spellbinders.  I added Liquid Pearls to the centre of the snowflake and also to the lower left of the card.

Birthday Party

A fun card for a Birthday.  It was a lot of fun colouring up these critters to match my paper and ribbon!

CCC Digi - Digi/Rhinestones or Ribbon (I used both)
http://cccdigicreations.blogspot.co.nz/2014/12/challenge-15-digirhinestones-or-ribbon.html

I have used a party themed DP from Rosie's Studio.  I added some ribbon that I bought on clearance sale a couple of months ago and still hadn't got around to using!  The image is from Bugaboo Stamps and has been coloured with copic markers to match the paper and ribbon.  I added some stars around the edge of the image using a Distress Marker.  I added some rhinestones to one corner of the image that was looking a bit too white!

New Year Celebrations

I wanted to use this digi for a New Year's card but it had 2013 on the shirt.  I got around that by using a dark green on her shirt which covered the numbers!

I would like to enter my card into these challenges:

I'm back to using up some of my old scrapbooking papers that have small enough detail on them to be used on cards!  The image is from Dearie Dolls and has been coloured with copic markers.  I added a die-cut embellishment which I think is a Memory Box die.

Here is the sketch I worked from:

You can see I rotated it to suit the image!

Happy New Year

When I saw the diagonal on the Tic Tac Toe at Lia Stampz challenge, I just knew I had to go with a New Year's theme!

I would like to enter my card into these challenges:

Brown Sugar - Happy New Year
http://brownsugarchallenge.blogspot.co.nz/2014/12/challenge-126-happy-new-year.html

I have used a brightly striped paper from Rosie's Studio for the background.  I hauled out one of my under-used Spellbinders dies and decided it was time to use it again!  The image is from Lia Stampz and has been coloured with some of my more vivid coloured copic markers.  The sentiment is from Cre8tive Hands and is also coloured with copic markers.  I added some faux stitching using a Distress Marker.  The shaped sequins are some that I bought a number of years ago and have rarely used.  I thought they were just right for a New Year's themed card.

Frosty The Snowman

This snowman is looking very frosty!

I have used a paper from a paper pad - I think this one might be by MME.  The image and sentiment are both from Eureka Stamps.  I added some Stickles - Star Dust to the falling snow in both.  The image itself is coloured with copic markers.  I matted with glitter cardstock from DCWV and added three glitter domes.

I have used a paper from a Christmas paper pad that has interesting polka dots on it.  The image is from Bugaboo Stamps and has been coloured with copic markers and then highlighted with Stickles - Star Dust.  I die-cut some snowflakes from glitter cardstock from DCWV using a Spellbinders die and added these under the image so they were "falling" behind the snowman.  The sentiment is from Tickell Expressions.  I also used some web mesh ribbon which you can just see poking out between some of the snowflakes.

August

I managed to complete another page of my calendar.  This time I jumped to August.

Sewing Themed Card

My daughter has just been accepted into a course leading to a degree in Costume Design and Costume Construction.  So, I seem to be drawn to sewing themed images at the moment.

A wintry birthday card - instead of a wintry Christmas card!

I have used a paper from a paper pad for this card.  The ribbon is from American Crafts.  I tied a bow using my Bow Easy.  The image and sentiment are from Deedee's Digis.  I added some Stickles to the sentiment and coloured the image with copic markers (with a touch of Stickles added!).  I used green cardstock for matting and added some large rhinestones from Rosie's Studio.

March

As soon as I see an Anything But A Card challenge, I think of my poor partly completed calendar and try and add to it!  This one was a bit more of a challenge as it had to include a sentiment!

I would like to enter my calendar page in these challenges:
Sentimental Sundays - Anything But A Card
http://sentimentalsundays.blogspot.co.nz/2014/12/challenge-238-any-thing-but-card-no.html
Inspiration Destination - Anything Goes
http://ema-ginationstation.blogspot.co.nz/2014/12/AG-CH-13.html

I have used a scrapbook paper that I had in my stash.  The image/sentiment is from Bugaboo Stamps and has been coloured with copic markers R35, R32, YR07, YR04, YG09, YG06.   I added faux stitching with Distress Marker - Barn Door.  I wanted to add some stitching to the March page as this is when my daughter starts her degree in Costuming.

I'm thinking that maybe I should try and do another page before this challenge finishes - I still have eight months to complete of my calendar!  We'll see how today pans out.

Joy

Another non-traditionally coloured Christmas Card.  I felt like combining oranges, blues and purples to see how it would look.  I actually like this combination of colours:

I have used a non-Christmas paper here with a Christmas image.  I think the paper is from Kaisercraft.  I added some purple mesh ribbon across the card.  The image is from Imagine That and is part of the Progressive Challenge for December.  I uses non-traditional colours to help it stand out.  I added a bit of Stickles to the image too.  The matting is purple metallic paper.  I coloured some pearls with a dark blue copic (although they almost look black in the photo) and added these to the card.

Another Christmas Card!

Another excuse to use some of the Gingerbread themed DP that I have:

I've carried the candy cane colour scheme throughout this card:

I have used a striped paper from a Christmas paper pad by Kaisercraft.  The image is from A Day For Daisies and is coloured with copic markers.  I continued the red and white stripes through the image. The green snowflake paper is an offcut from another card (I think this paper may also be from Kaisercraft).  I also added some red glitter domes.

Here is the inspirational picture:

And here is the inspiration picture form Just Inspirational:
I was inspired by the tree and baubles.

Christmas Decoration

When I first saw this image, I wanted to use it to make a Christmas decoration but it took me ages to actually get it done.  It made it in time for Christmas Day - but just.  However, I haven't got around to blogging in until Boxing Day!

I would like to enter my decoration in these challenges:

CHNC - Urgently needed for Christmas

I have used an image from The East Wind and fussy cut it.  I flipped the image for the reverse side.  I originally had an idea of printing on to some sort of acetate but the shops were a bit busy by the time I had that idea and I knew I'd need some assistance from the shop keeper.  Probably should find something suitable when the shops are quiet and have it ready for next year!  I added some apricot coloured ribbon that had a bit of a sparkle through it.  I also added Stickles - Star Dust to the hat and Kindy Glitz - Gold to the scarf and top of the ornament.

Elfred discovers the contents of the tin

Celebrate

As seems to be the case with a number of my favourite challenges, the challenge at Delightful Challenges is closing at the end of December.  The theme for the final challenge is "Celebrate" and I found I had the perfect image for this theme!  Another of my favourite challenges, Seems A Little Sketchy, is also closing so I used the sketch for this card:

Seems A Little Sketchy - Sketch 80
http://seemsalittlesketchy.blogspot.co.nz/2014/12/80-stamping-dragon-designs.html

I have used white cardstock to print the sentiment from Desert Diva.  The top part of the card was embossed with an embossing folder.  I covered the join between the two pieces with some white grosgrain ribbon.  The image is Laidback Lucy from Digital Delights.  I coloured her with copic markers E00 and E41 together with a white pen and liquid pearls.  I matted with some white glitter cardstock from DCWV.  I added some liquid pearls to the sentiment and some pearls to the embossed part of the card.

Finally, I would like to say Thank You to all those responsible for the Delightful Challenges blog.  Although, I have only joined in recently I have enjoyed the challenges and appreciate all the work that goes into hosting a challenge.

I would also like to say Thank You to all those responsible for the challenge at Seems A Little Sketchy. I love having sketches to kick start my mojo and there have been some great ones in this challenge.  This is the first of three cards I hope to be able to complete for this final challenge.

Thank You

I always seem to need Thank You cards.  This one I decided to make a more general one:

Let It Snow

As this is the first card that I have posted on Christmas Day (it is now 12.20pm here), I would like to take this opportunity to wish all my followers a Merry Christmas.

I've gone with a snowy colour scheme on this one too!  Of course, here in New Zealand we don't see the snow at Christmas as it is the middle of summer.  But we still do the traditional snowy scene on our cards!

I would like to enter my card in to these challenges:

Happy New Year

Another summery New Year's card.  With warmer temperatures at the moment and it really starting to feel like it is summer, I'm more inspired to create cards that reflect the season here (summer).  For me, New Year is all about cooling off from the humidity so a mermaid is an appropriate image!

Creative Craft Cottage - Colour Palette
http://creativecraftcottage.blogspot.co.nz/2014/12/challenge-30-colourchristmas.html

I have used a paper from Kaisercraft that had two of the colours of the colour palette at Creative Craft Cottage in it.  The paper has a sort of misted feel to it.  The image is from Dilly Beans and coloured with copic markers.  The sentiment is from Desert Diva and I have added some Liquid Pearls to the water bubbles.  I matted with some glitter cardstock from DCWV.  The flowers were white but I sprayed them with some Dylusions Spray.  The rhinestones centres were already there (I just had to be careful to wipe off the Dylusions Spray to keep them vibrant.  I have also used some lace from Sullivans and some pearls which I coloured with copic marker YG03.

New Year at the Beach

Here in New Zealand, we are in summer.  New Year is often spent at the beach so to me Beach Huts represent New Year.  It probably seems weird to those in the Northern Hemisphere!  Not sure that I'll get to the beach this year.  Unfortunately, it seems to be the hotspot of parties nowadays and not a place of relaxation.

Inspiration Destination - Anything Goes
http://ema-ginationstation.blogspot.co.nz/2014/12/AG-CH-13.html

I have used a paper from a new paper pad by Kaisercraft which is beach themed.  The image is from Delicious Doodles.  I merged a sentiment from Desert Diva with the image.  I liked the reflected sentiment - reminds me of a reflection in water.  I added minimal colour to the image as I wanted a more masculine feel to the card.  I added some rows of ric-rac braid to represent waves.

Happy New Year

I love using image for something other than what they were designed for!  This is one of those images:

The image is from Beccy's Place and has been coloured with copic markers W2, W0, G29, E49, R17, R14, RV10.  The sentiment is from Desert Diva.  I used the colour palette from The Outlawz Friday Challenge for this card.  The matting is green cardstock from DCWV and I also used some green organza ribbon.

Traditional Christmas Colours

After colouring an owl blue yesterday, I decided today I would colour one green!  That way he matched my papers!

I would like to enter my card into these challenges:

I have used some scrapbooking papers from my stash for this card.  The image is from Digi Stamp Boutique.  I coloured using copic markers and added Stickles to the hat.  I matted with deep red cardstock from Rosie's Studio.  The trees have been cut from glitter cardstock by DCWV using a Spellbinders die and then embellished with Liquid Pearls.

Celebrate the New Year

This card was a bit more challenging.  I had an idea of the girl jumping out from the starburst.  However, it was hard to embellish without losing the starburst so I have ended up keeping it relatively CAS.

I would like to enter my card into these challenges:

I have used a paper from a paper pad which I edged with Distress Ink - Peacock Feathers.  I just got a set of the round applicators - so much easier to use than the rectangular ones!  I also edged the sentiment from Desert Diva  with the same Distress Ink.  The image is from Digi Stamps 4 Joy and coloured with copic markers and then fussy cut.  I also applied some Stickles to the trim on the girl's top.  I coloured some glitter domes with copic marker BG15 and added one to each corner.

Elfred and The Snow Leopard

Elfred and The Snow Leopard have discovered a red tin decorated with Christmas images.  They are wondering what is inside there!

Blue Owl

I tend to colour owls in traditional colours - mainly to appease my son who doesn't like whimsical owls.  Just because I could, I decided that I would use blue this time!

Merry Creepmas

I do not do scary cards very well at all but I wasn't going to let a challenge get the better of me so I had to at least give it a go!  I also haven't managed to join in any of the challenges at Ikes World recently as time hasn't been on my side.  I've used a Halloween image paired with a typed Creepmas sentiment:

Ike's World - Merry Creepmas
http://ikesworldchallengeblog.blogspot.co.nz/2014/12/ikesworld-challenges-28-merry-creepmas.html

I have used a dark paper from a Kaisercraft paper pad.  I added some spider web looking mesh ribbon over the top.  The image is from Ikes World and coloured with copic markers.  I then edged the piece with some Distress Ink - Black Soot before matting on to black cardstock from Rosie's Studio.  The sentiment is one I typed on the computer using a font called Spiderfingers.   I edged the sentiment with Black Soot and then matted on to black cardstock.   I added three small black pearls.

Some challenges definitely live up to the word "Challenge".  This was one of them!

Masculine Happy Birthday

I always have difficulty with masculine cards - often the papers are the stumbling block.  I found this paper pad when I was shopping yesterday that is largely masculine - so of course I had to buy it and then wanted to use it immediately!

I would like to enter my card into these challenges:
Eureka Stamps - For The Birds

I used a paper from a paper pad by Kaisercraft called "Hello Today".  The polka dot paper is a left over piece from another card that I didn't want to go to waste.  The image and sentiment are both from Eureka Stamps.  I added faux stitching around each of them using Distress Marker - Tea Dye.  The image has been coloured with copic markers G21, YG03, B93, Y00.

A Present For Someone

I was sure I had some tartan ribbon at home but couldn't find it.  Went to the Dollar Store with my daughter to see if they had any - no luck.  Then my daughter told me she had found some tartan fabric at home when she was tidying so I have used a strip of that!

Merry Christmas

I'm heading off to the dentist in half an hour so have been trying to distract myself by doing some cards.  It's not really working that well particularly as I haven't been allowed to eat this morning and I'm hungry!

I decided to create with the freebie image from the progressive challenge at The Outlawz.  I hadn't been able to decide which way I was going with this image!

I would like to enter my card into these challenges:

I also used some glitter cardstock from DCWV for the die-cut circle, some bakers twine and some green metal brads.
