Angel

Wow - we are around to the start of another month!  That means that it is time for the August challenge at CHNC.   We would love to see your Christmas makes - and it is a good time to start preparing for Christmas if you haven't started already!

I decided I would create a card with a word art for a change.  I also decided to go non-traditional with my colour scheme!  Here is the result:

I am entering my card into these challenges:
CHNC - Patterned Paper - August

The Corrosive Challenge - Christmas in July
http://corrosivechallengesbyjanet.blogspot.co.nz/2014/07/challenge-204-christmas-in-july.html

I have used a patterned paper from Rosie's Studio.  I added some wide mesh ribbon across the card.  The image is Christmas Word - Angel from Bugaboo Stamps.  I coloured with copic markers BV02, BV000, E00, Y02, B000.  I also added some Stickles - Crystal to the wings.  The die-cut is from Tattered Lace and it is the largest of the set.  I also added some lilac pearls as corner embellishments.

Pink Poppies

I'm so used to seeing red poppies that I felt like I wanted to colour them a different colour - and then went with that and replaced the green foliage with purple!

I am entering my card into these challenges:
Sami Stamps - Add Polka Dots
http://samistamp.blogspot.co.nz/2014/07/new-release-ice-cream-joy-and-new.html
Creative Colors - Pink, Purple, White + 2 different papers
http://creativecolorschallenge.blogspot.co.nz/2014/07/creativecolorschallenge-16.html
The Outlawz Wednesday Challenge - Sketch
http://outlawzchallenges.ning.com/group/wednesday-sketch/forum/topics/wednesday-sketch-challenge-july-30-2014

I have used a polka dotted paper from a paper pad as well as offcuts of another paper which I used for the pennants.  The layout follows the sketch at The Outlawz Wednesday challenge.  The image is from Sami Stamps and has been coloured with copic markers RV23, RV21, V17, V15.  I added some pearls to the pennants.

Here is the colour palette for the Creative Colors Challenge:

Heading off on Vacation

As I have not long had a vacation, it isn't me who is heading off on Vacation!

I have used a patterned paper from a Kaisercraft paper pad called Paradiso.  The image is a freebie from A Creative Need and was perfect for this card!  I added a tag from the same Kaisercraft paper pad and a string of white pearls.

Meowy Mousemas

I just love that sentiment - and it really works with this image:

Just keep swimming

Another encouragement card destined for one of my swimmers:

Irresistable Bling

There is something about Christmas trees that seems to attract cats!  This lovely image is called Irresistable Bling so I took inspiration from that and decided to bling up the tree for the kitties!

I am entering my card into these challenges:
Digi Stamps 4 Joy - Progressive Christmas Challenge
http://digistamps4joy-sa.blogspot.co.nz/2014/07/monthly-christmas-challenge-july-2014.html

I have used a background paper from MME.  I overlaid this with some Christmas organza ribbon.  This one is a dark blue with gold stars on it and a gold edging - a bit hard to pick up the detail with a photo.  The image is from Digi Stamps 4 Joy and is the image supplied for the July challenge.  I added some bling to the tree and also to the top right corner.

One Layer Card

This one was really a challenge for me!  I've decided that I really have no idea as to how to go about a one layered card.  It took weeks of thinking about how I was going to approach it and I'm still not really happy with the end result.

Christmas with a hint of purple!

I have had this background paper and didn't really know how I was going to work it in with an image.  Decided that since it was mainly cream that it worked well when I was trying to incorporate a non-traditional colour:

Our local paper and craft shop closed down at the weekend and had products really cheap.  SOme were from their classroom area and others were new.  I got three tubes of Kaisercraft paint for $1 per tube (brand new too!) and was keen to use them.  I managed to use one of them on this card:

I have used a white card blank and added two sheets of shimmer cardstock from DCWV.  I embossed the blue one with an embossing folder and left the other as is.  I cut a border from the green one with a Martha Stewart border punch.  The image and sentiment are from Bugaboo Stamps and the image has been coloured with copic markers.  I added a string of pearls and rhinestones to the top and bottom of the card.

BINGO - 1 of 3

I decided I would make a trio of cards following the BINGO board at Catch The Bug.  I am using each of the horizontal lines as my inspiration.    This first card is from the top line - Use Circles, Stripes and Red, White or Blue.

I have used two background papers - I think the red spotted one is from DCWV and the striped one is from Kaisercraft.  I added some blue mesh ribbon over some of the striped paper.  The image is from Bugaboo Stamps and has been coloured with copic markers.  I also added some Glossy Accents to the beard and some Stickles to the hat trim.  The sentiment is from Doodle Pantry.  I added some faux stitching around the image and sentiment circles using Distress Marker - Salty Ocean.

Hot Hot Hot

I changed my mind a few times on this card and didn't think I was actually going to complete it!

I used a background paper from Kaisercraft for this card.  I added some wide red satin ribbon (originally it was going to be a red bow but for some reason I couldn't tie a bow I was happy with today!).  The image is from The East Wind.  I paper pieced the dress with a paper from DIY and Digital Designs.  The remainder of the image has been coloured with copic markers and Distress Markers.  I added a foam flower embellished with some red bling plus a sentiment from Digital Doodling coloured with copic markers and die-cut with a Spellbinders pennant die.  I also added a string of red bling to the lower part of the image.

O Little Town of Bethlehem

I seem to struggle to create enough cards with a more traditional feel to them.  I decided it was about time that I pulled out a traditional Christmas image and worked with it.

Décosse's Dynamite Doodles - Christmas Link-up for July
http://decossesdynamitedoodles.blogspot.co.nz/p/the-12-days-of-christmas-card-link-up.html

I have used a striped paper from Kaisercraft for the background.  I like the rustic worn look to this pattern.  The image is from Doodle Pantry and coloured with copic markers E08, E04, B000, Y000, E18, E15, YG09, YG06, RV14, E53. I also added a star cut from a Memory Box Die.  The gold ribbon is from my stash and the sentiment has been typed on the computer (not sure which font I used).

Summer Vacation at the Beach

Even though I work with teaching children to swim, I still enjoy going to the beach when on vacation.  I don't think I'd wear a bikini though - I'd scare everyone else off the beach!!!

QKR Stampede - Vacation
http://qkrstampede.blogspot.co.nz/2014/07/qkr-stamede-challenge-97-vacation.html

I have used a background paper with a timber effect from Kaisercraft.  I thought of wooden beach huts when I saw this paper.  I added some spotted paper and also some dots around the image and sentiment to carry through the polka dots in the image.  The image is from QKR Stampede and has been coloured with copic markers YG06, YG03, RV14, BG000.  I added the dots with Distress Marker - Worn Lipstick.  The sentiment is from Netty's Cards.

Goofin' Around

I'm never that enthusiastic making shaped cards but decided to have an attempt at making a round one.  I left one edge with a bit of straightness so that the card can open (couldn't figure out how to create a round opening card!)

Three Times A Lady

This song title conjured up images of elegant ladies.  And I was lucky enough to find an digi image that fitted that description!

http://seemsalittlesketchy.blogspot.co.nz/2014/07/69-robyns-fetish.html

I have used a paper from a paper pad by Kaisercraft called "Key To My Heart".  The image is from The Stamping Chef and is called Miss Austen.  Sadly I think this image may have been retired as I couldn't find it in the shop - of course I could have just missed it!  I added a sentiment from Sans Designs and some ribbon flowers coloured with copic marker R59 which is one of the colours I used on Miss Austen's dress.  The other colours I used for the image were R46, E00, E08, E04, YR23.
